Mazeed Ogungbo finally returned to action with Crawley Town and appeared to make a positive impression on Saturday, before suffering an injury scare.

Mazeed Ogungbo finally returned to the Crawley Town squad for the first time in over a month on Saturday, making the starting lineup against Bradford City.

Ogungbo had initially dropped out of the side through suspension, having committed a red-card handball offence in an EFL Trophy game against AFC Wimbledon, but he didn’t return to the squad after that.

Concerns grew when Kevin Betsy was sacked by the club, considering the former Arsenal u23 boss was the man who brought Ogungbo in to begin with.

At first, the 20-year-old remained absent under new management, but Saturday changed that.

The defender seemed to put in a good performance, completing 83% of his passes and winning 80% of his individual duels. He also made three clearances, two interceptions, and six recoveries.

Yet whilst Crawley Town praised “a good shift from Maz (Ogungbo) on his return”, they also confirmed he’d been forced off with an injury in the 81st minute.

We’ll have to wait and see whether the injury turns out to be anything serious, but Ogungbo will hope he’s not set for another spell on the sidelines.

After coming back into the team at last and impressing against Bradford, he’ll want to build up some momentum now.
