Jurgen Klopp has said his side knows ‘how to prepare for Arsenal‘ because Arsenal will only look like they know what they’re doing if Liverpool aren’t on top form. Or something.

Jurgen Klopp met with the press ahead of bringing his midtable side to the Emirates.

Sitting 11 points behind Arsenal, albeit with a game in hand, Liverpool have not enjoyed a good start to this campaign.

Arsenal, in contrast, have. That has pundits talking as if Arsenal are expected to beat Liverpool, like that’s some sort of given.

For all my jokes above, it is not.

Asked if Liverpool have been struggling because other sides have worked out how to play against them, Klopp was having none of it.

It is all, he says, down to Liverpool being off their game.

“Teams worked out how you can play against us when we are not at our best,” said Klopp.

“Other teams have worked out how to play against us for years but it still didn’t work out for them because we were exceptional in the things we did.

“But in the moments when you are not exceptional then it looks easier. In our best games, I could show you the parts where we could have had problems. But we didn’t because we put so much pressure on the opposition that they couldn’t find these spaces, that’s the risk you take.

“In the moments when you don’t play at your top, these gaps are still there. They play the pass through and it looks like they know how to play against us.

“Arsenal will do that now. They believe in what they are doing. We know how to prepare for Arsenal. In the end, it’s how we execute it.”
