The Daily Mail report that Arsenal are now moving to secure Edu Gaspar’s future, pushing for a contract renewal for their technical director.

The Mail claim Edu is developing a reputation as one of the best football administrators around and he’s drawn interest from at least two European clubs.

Arsenal are aware of this interest and are hoping to secure his future with a new deal. As for Edu, he’s believed to be happy at the Emirates Stadium and minded to commit, but there’s no agreement yet.

This report follows claims from Fabrizio Romano that more than two European clubs are showing interest in Edu, discussing his name internally as a potential target for their clubs.

Again, Romano stated that Edu is “100% focused” on Arsenal’s project, and the club see him as a key figure for their future.

Edu certainly seems to have helped Arsenal to start moving in the right direction over the last year or so.

Together with Mikel Arteta, he’s been working to add young and exciting players to the squad, as well as moving on the older fringe players no longer contributing to the side.

It seems to be working, with Arsenal sitting top of the Premier League table after 11 games.

The next test will be to see if Edu and co. can build on whatever they end up achieving this year.
