Fabrizio Romano reports that more than two European clubs are showing interest in Arsenal’s Edu Gaspar, discussing his name internally as a potential target for their club.

But Edu is “100% focused” on Arsenal’s project, and the club see him as a key figure for their future.

This is quite the turnaround from a couple of years ago, when it seemed Edu wasn’t particularly highly rated in his role with the Gunners.

Certainly, the Arsenal fans had plenty of complaints, with the deal for Willian proving particularly divisive.

Yet the squad has been moving in the right direction since then, with Edu and Mikel Arteta working together to add young and exciting players, as well as moving on the older fringe players no longer contributing to the side.

It seems to be working well enough, with Arsenal making their best-ever start to a Premier League season to sit top of the table after 10 games.

Manchester City are still firm favourites for the title, given their recent history and their free-flowing goalscoring form this season. But to even have Arsenal in the conversation is a credit to the work the team have done behind the scenes.

The Gunners were certainly nowhere near a title race in any recent season since 2015/16, so this is progress in itself.

The next test will be to see if Edu and co. can build on whatever they end up achieving this year.
