Arsenal are currently in talks with William Saliba over a new contract so of course there is a lot of gossip about him in the media, but some of what is being claimed is total nonsense.

There are some things you read on certain websites that you think might be true, but, as I scoured the foreign sites for any news I wasn’t surprised to find Le10Sport making ridiculous claims about William Saliba, twisting what some others have said

First, they have Fabrizio Romano saying Bukayo Saka’s contract renewal is a top priority. Le10Sport take this claim to mean that Saliba’s contract renewal is not a priority for the club.

Apparently, as Arsenal are working on getting Saka and Gabriel Martinelli to renew, they can’t possibly deal with a third contract at the same time.

Then they have CBS Sports reporter, Ben Jacobs, who was speaking on The Football Terrace. Jacobs said, “Compared to Martinelli and Saka, he has only been back at the club for a few months.

“He’s still getting used to the idea that there are a lot of voices in his ear. It’s not just Marseille, it’s PSG telling him: if you’re so uncertain or so insecure about Arsenal, we can potentially bring you in.”

There is no evidence for anything that Jacobs has claimed in that second paragraph. In fact, there is plenty of evidence to prove him wrong.

Saliba played every single Premier League minute available for Arsenal this season. His position in the starting lineup is secure.

He has a chant so loud and relentless it is already driving pundits crazy, and has been shown nothing but love from Arsenal fans, Mikel Arteta and his teammates, who also sing his song.

Speaking previously, Saliba has repeatedly highlighted how Arteta and Arsenal did the right thing by sending him out on loan.

In another interview less than two weeks ago, Saliba expressed how confident he is feeling at Arsenal.

Quite what Jacobs thinks Saliba has to be uncertain or insecure about, he did not say.

Rather, it seems he just said some words and hoped nobody looked too closely at them.
