RKCNu report that Mika Biereth has been absent from RKC Waalwijk’s recent first-team squads due to an injury. He is currently back in England, temporarily returning to Arsenal, as is fairly common with injured loan players.

Biereth had made the bench for the opening game of the season against FC Utrecht, but he’s been completely absent from the matchday squads since then.

The Arsenal striker had been scoring for fun in pre-season with his loan team, so the timing of his injury problem has been very unfortunate.

The same thing happened to Nikolaj Moller, who injured himself scoring his fifth pre-season goal for his loan club and only returned to the pitch for a 14-minute cameo on Friday.

It’s a shame neither of the youth centre-forward loanees will get the chance to carry their strong pre-season form into the competitive campaign, but these setbacks are common for youth players progressing into senior football.

The added demands of the first-team game often lead to injuries in the early stages of a loan. It’s a case of overcoming that and putting a run together when you’re fit again.
