Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday night that Lucas Torreira had signed his contract as a new Galatasaray player in Milan, where reports had suggested he was undergoing his medical examinations.

Romano added that the deal was finally complete, with Arsenal set to receive €6-7m (£5-5.9m) plus add-ons. That roughly tallies with other reports that the deal was worth £5m plus £2.5m in add-ons.

Turkish journalist Ali Naci Kucuk wrote that Torreira would arrive in Istanbul today, as Galatasaray prepare to announce his transfer.

Torreira had a year left on his Arsenal deal, and despite being called back for pre-season with the Gunners, he left the U.S. tour early to travel to Italy and hadn’t played a game since.

When he left the tour, a return to Serie A seemed like the most likely option, despite Fiorentina’s failure to activate their purchase clause to bring him back after his loan.

But none of the other Italian clubs with a reported interest ever submitted a satisfactory offer. Galatasaray did, and they now look to have landed their man.

There was a delay in the deal earlier this week, with Torreira seemingly stalling on the move.

The Uruguayan had previously hinted he was keen on a move to Italy or Spain, and perhaps he was holding out for a late offer from Serie A or La Liga.

When that proposal didn’t come, the midfielder accepted the offer on the table to play in the Super Lig. It’s seemingly just a case of waiting for the official confirmation now.
