Lucas Torreira has been pictured in Italy as he chases a transfer, with multiple European clubs interested in his signature.
Last week, reports suggested Lucas Torreira had left the Arsenal pre-season camp to travel to Italy.
This information has now been confirmed, with Fiorentina player Lucas Martinez Quarta posting a picture of the pair on his Instagram story.
The picture was captained “good to see you again, brother” and tagged Forte Dei Marmi, a seaside town in Tuscany, Italy.
Fabrizio Romano (via CaughtOffside) reports that there are many clubs interested in signing Torreira, including Valencia, but Arsenal are only willing to sell on their own terms.
After Arsenal announced their team news to face Orlando City last week, with Torreira absent, Arsenal442 broke the news of his trip to Italy.
Torreira reportedly travelled to Italy to address some personal matters, though Arsenal442 stopped short of confirming that this relates to an imminent transfer.
Mikel Arteta had called Torreira back for pre-season, reportedly to get a better look at him before making a final decision on his future. In the end, the midfielder didn’t even get a minute on the pitch before leaving again.
Torreira’s agent Pablo Bentancur recently confirmed Valencia are a potential destination for his client.
“We have reached an agreement with Valencia, Gattuso wants him,” Bentancur said. “We are gonna discuss with Arsenal – Arteta wants to see him in the pre-season.
“He had great numbers with Arsenal but we have a pre-agreement with Valencia.”
With Torreira in Italy, however, perhaps that relates to the other reports of interest from AS Roma and Juventus. Hanging out with a former Fiorentina teammate surely puts them back in the mix as well. We should know more in the coming days.
