Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will not be leaving Barcelona to join Chelsea according to a report in AS, at least, not at the minute.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a few weeks now and, as the Spaniards look to raise some cash, it seemed as if Auba could be on his way just a few months after signing for free.

Not long after Aubameyang signed with Barcelona, it was reported that he was one of 25 players who would be put up for sale in the summer.

Last week, it was claimed that Chelsea expected to hear an answer about the former Arsenal captain by the end of the week. That answer has apparently now arrived and it seems as if disappointment is all Chelsea will be getting from Barcelona.

Asked about the possibility of the move, Mikel Arteta said he believed that Aubameyang would get a good reception from the Arsenal fans, so there was certainly some belief in footballing circles that a deal was a possibility.

Even Thomas Tuchel said this week, “This is totally separate from anything that is happening now, but I enjoyed a lot working with Auba while I was at Dortmund.

“Some players stay your players because you were very, very close. And Auba is one of those players.

“There was always straight away this close bond. They always stay your players in a way.”

Of course, things could change quickly in the final weeks of the window, but it seems, as things stand, Barcelona will be keeping hold of the player Xavi called a ‘gift’ that had ‘fallen from the sky’ unless Chelsea get extra stupid:
