Arsenal haven’t bid for Edon Zhegrova and they aren’t in negotiations for N’Golo Kante, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Over the last week, the media have clearly been trying to figure out Arsenal’s next transfer target, and a couple of names to hit the papers were Lille’s Edon Zhegrova and Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante.

But Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal haven’t submitted a bid for Zhegrova, and there are no negotiations ongoing for Kante.

The Daily Star had claimed that Arsenal were considering a bid for Kante, who is in the final year of his contract. The story didn’t really have any more substance than that, and now Romano has seemingly shut it down.

Reports on the Zhegrova front were slightly more advanced, with Kosovo-based journalist Arlind Sadiku claiming Arsenal had submitted an official offer for the Kosovan international.

That wasn’t the first time Arsenal had been linked with a move for Zhegrova either.

The Mirror reported in April that the Gunners could spend as much as £11m to bring the winger in this summer.

Zhegrova only moved to the Ligue 1 side in January, joining from FC Basel for €7m. He’s since made the most of minimal Lille opportunities, with two goals and an assist in under 500 minutes.

Before Lille, Zhegrova had started the season with FC Basel, for whom he directly contributed to nine goals in 794 minutes before leaving. That’s slightly better than a goal or assist per 90 minutes.

It looks like he’s set to try and build on those tallies with Lille this year, not Arsenal.
