Arsenal released their new pink third kit for the 2022/23 season on Friday. The kit itself is identical to the leaks, and the release date was also as expected. But there was one detail that previous reports got wrong.

According to claims from earlier this week, Arsenal were set to debut the kit against Sevilla on Saturday.

However, Arsenal report that they’ll actually wear the kit on the pitch for the first time during the opening fixture of the Premier League season against Crystal Palace on Friday, 4th August.

The Gunners will presumably wear their home kit against Sevilla instead.

Arsenal released their new home kit before the end of last season, wearing it against Everton on the final day of the Premier League season, before giving the slick black away kit an outing in pre-season.

As for the third kit, though it’s mostly a plain pink shirt with black trim, there’s a pattern on the shirt seemingly taken from the Arsenal badges of old. You can spot the same design on all of the badges from 1949 to 2002.

That design is a nice nod to Arsenal’s past in an otherwise fairly unprecedented Gunners shirt. We should see how it suits the players next week.
