Lucas Torreira has impressed on loan in Serie A with Fiorentina this season, so much so that the Italians have been keen for some time to make it a permanent move.

Now, it seems like they will get what they want and Arsenal will get €15m in return.

That is the purchase clause amount in Torreira’s loan deal which the Italians were initially reluctant to pay.

The deal is now expected to complete in the middle of May.

Arsenal signed Torreira for £25.79m in the summer of 2018 but it was clear from not long after his arrival that Mikel Arteta was not interested in using him.

He started him in five of his first seven league matches, before dropping him to the bench, offering him only one more start before he was sent out on loan

In total, Arteta used Torreira just 17 times, averaging 45 minutes per appearance.

Torreira will have one year left on his Arsenal deal at the end of the season, having played 89 times for the Gunners, scoring four and assisting six.
