Arsenal have apparently made Ruben Neves one of their top targets for a summer transfer after trying to sign the Wolves midfielder last summer.

Arsenal spent a lot of time last summer trying to sign Ruben Neves from Wolves.

Neves was apparently keen to sign for Arsenal and Wolves were happy to sell.

The problem was their £35m valuation.

Arsenal, however, seem set to have another go with his agent, Jorges Mendes, friendly with Edu.

Sky Sports report that Neves is currently in negotiations with Wolves for a new deal, so that makes me wonder how much of this is real and how much is agent talk, especially with Wolves now saying they want around £100m for the midfielder.

One report claims that Neves would be Erik Ten Hag’s ‘number one target’ should he take the United job but that definitely seems like nonsense.

“I don’t know if it’s Man United or other teams, what I know is we have a special player here with us,” Wolves boss Bruno Lage said.

“What he is doing this season is very good. I think also the way we play, he can show a better Rubin, and also the way he plays puts our team on a different level.

“When you have that player, the best thing to do is improve his salary and years of contract.

“But who knows, when you have a top player like him in that specific position, that can defend and attack, and is a top professional and a great man, the big teams are there with £100m to buy these kinds of players.”

Neves is likely to be out until May with a knee injury.
