Fiorentina have confirmed that Lucas Torreira was forced off in their match against Juventus with bruising on his left hip. Further assessments have revealed a grade one lesion on his transverse abdominal muscle.

The club add that they’re planning to assess Torreira further in the coming days, but he’s already started his rehabilitation programme.

In the meantime, Torreira is out of action for his loan club. He missed their match against Salernitana on Sunday and will now be a doubt at best for the upcoming run of games.

Before the end of the season, Fiorentina are set to play Udinese, Milan, AS Roma, Sampdoria, and Juventus, so they really need their best players available.

Torreira has scored three goals in his last four league games for Fiorentina, including a big-game goal away to Inter Milan. He won his second Fiorentina Player of the Month award for 2022 in March.

Reports suggest Lucas Torreira is set to join Fiorentina permanently this summer, with Arsenal and Fiorentina in talks over a deal.

Torreira has a €15m option to buy in his contract, and with his positive recent form, speculation is growing over what happens next. This injury is unlikely to affect that situation significantly.
