Granit Xhaka has said that he won’t leave Arsenal until he has ‘achieved something special’ which makes you wonder why he agreed a deal to join Roma last summer.
AS Roma and Jose Mourinho really wanted Granit Xhaka in the summer of 2021, and the former Arsenal captain was quite happy to join them with reports that he agreed a five-year deal with the Italians.
Roma, however, wouldn’t offer a decent fee and Arsenal ended up keeping the midfielder.
Since then, Roma have not been quiet about their desire to sign him this summer and it seemed as if Xhaka could finally be on his way.
His recent comments, however, put a massive question mark over all that.
“I want to have a better relationship with the people outside, with the fans,” Xhaka said.
“To be closer with them.
“We never meet them, we never have a conversation with them.
“They are only seeing us on the pitch, for 90 minutes, and goodbye. They don’t know how we trained before, they don’t know how you feel, they don’t know if you have problems with your family, they don’t know a lot of points.
“After the season, I still have two years contract here.
“I will give everything while I’m at this football club. I always say that.
“I didn’t sign a new contract to be here for… [to] enjoy my time and that’s it.
“No, no, I want to achieve something with this club, something special. And before that, I don’t leave.”
