Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe was finally pictured in training with the England squad on Sunday, following his absence for much of the first week of the international break.

After linking up with the England squad last week, Smith Rowe hadn’t featured in any of their training sessions.

Sky Sports reported that the midfielder had picked up a problem, but added it was nothing serious.

Gareth Southgate himself initially told the media: “Emile didn’t train today (Friday) so I would think it’s unlikely he’ll be involved tomorrow (Saturday). Nothing too serious.”

Southgate then added after the Switzerland game: “Emile did some work with the fitness team today so there’s a chance he’ll do some of the training session (on Sunday).”

Fortunately, it seems Smith Rowe passed the necessary checks to be involved in that Sunday session. He’ll now hope to feature in England’s next game on Tuesday.

Ben White played 90 minutes for England at the weekend, but Arsenal’s other call-ups have all missed out so far.

As well as Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka (Covid-19) and Aaron Ramsdale (muscle injury) both had to withdraw from the camp.

The big question for Arsenal fans is how many of them will be available when the Gunners return to action next Monday.
