After Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka’s withdrawals, Emile Smith Rowe is the latest English Arsenal player to miss training.

Sky Sports report that Emile Smith Rowe has been missing from training with England for the last few days. The Arsenal man was notably absent on Wednesday, and he still hasn’t returned to the squad sessions by Friday.

The good news is that Sky understand the issue is “nothing serious”, but they add there’s no way he’ll feature against Switzerland on Saturday – certainly not in the starting lineup.

Arsenal initially had four players called up to the England squad – Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, and Ben White – as many call-ups as any other club received from England.

Yet that number is quickly dwindling. First Ramsdale had to pull out with the injury he sustained against Liverpool, then Saka had to withdraw from the camp after a positive Covid-19 test.

If Smith Rowe is also unavailable, White is set to be the only one of Arsenal’s four call-ups to actually make it into Saturday’s squad.

With Saka and Ramsdale, the one upside is that the pair have this break to rest and recover.

At least they’re only missing England friendlies, not key Arsenal Premier League clashes or the actual World Cup tournament.

The same goes for Smith Rowe if he pulls out, but for now, we can keep our fingers crossed that he doesn’t need to. With any luck, he’ll be available again in time for Tuesday’s clash with the Ivory Coast.
