Arsenal dominated the Premier League Team of the Week with the reduced schedule at the weekend, with four Gunners making the side.

It was obviously easier than usual to make it into this week’s Premier League Team of the Week side, with only four league fixtures taking place. Most teams had seen their matches postponed by FA Cup fixtures.
Having said that, no team had as many players in Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week as Arsenal. There was one Wolves player, two players from Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Leeds United, and four Arsenal players in the XI.
Bukayo Saka certainly wasn’t a surprise selection, after he scored the winning goal and won the Man of the Match award against Aston Villa.
Thomas Partey featured in the midfield, as he just seems to keep getting better this season. Partey completed 88% of his passes, made three tackles and one interception as well as completing two of his three dribbles in an all-action performance.
Gabriel Magalhaes and Ben White rounded out the Arsenal inclusions, with Shearer selecting both members of Mikel Arteta’s centre-back pairing.
Gabriel made a key defensive header and White made a last-ditch clearance on the stretch to deny Villa a couple of fantastic chances, and the duo were as heavily involved as usual in Arsenal’s possession game.

It’s nice to see some of the deeper midfielders and defenders getting credit for Arsenal’s recent performances, given it’s usually the forwards featuring in these teams despite the Gunners’ strong defensive record this season.
Saka has already made multiple Teams of the Week in the last month, but Partey, White, and Gabriel all deserve credit too. If Arsenal are going to make the top four they need consistent performances all over the pitch from here on out.
