Ryan Alebiosu had quickly made himself a regular starter for Crewe Alexandra this month. He featured in the lineup for all four of their matches and completed the full 90 in two of the three before Tuesday night.

But just 20 minutes into his fourth start, Alebiosu seemingly tweaked a muscle putting in a cross. He initially tried to continue, but he was forced off midway through the half.

It’s unclear at this stage how serious the problem is, as that will require further assessment. In the short term, it’s just a shame the Arsenal loanee won’t be able to keep his run of games going.

Alebiosu made bold moves in the latter stages of the January transfer window, changing his agency and securing the first loan move of his young career.

The 20-year-old had seen a move to Sunderland fall apart in the summer window, so he would have been particularly keen to make sure he got his loan this time.

The early signs are positive for a strong loan spell, but injuries can easily disrupt a promising run of momentum. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for good news from the further assessments.
