Jack Wilshere has admitted he’d love his next professional playing contract to be with Arsenal, but he doesn’t think Mikel Arteta wants that.

Speaking to talkSPORT this week, Jack Wilshere didn’t deny that he’d love to play for Arsenal again. But he explained that it wasn’t his decision, even if he believes that he’s keeping up with the squad in training.

“I would love it to be Arsenal,” Wilshere said, on the subject of his next club. “But I’m not in control of that.

“[I’m not playing for Arsenal] because the manager doesn’t want me to. I don’t think he does.

“[But] I wouldn’t have went to Dubai if I was bringing training down, bringing the quality down, weren’t keeping up.”

Wilshere hasn’t had much luck finding a new team just yet, despite his work in training and the efforts of his representatives.

L’Equipe report that Jack Wilshere and his representatives are still hard at work searching for a new club, and his agents offered him to Lille on a short-term basis during the January transfer window.

The offer even included a trial period, so Wilshere could prove himself before his potential new club committed to a contract.

Unfortunately for Wilshere, Lille decided to sign Hatem Ben Arfa, which took the possibility off the table.

Ahead of the transfer deadline, Football.London reported that AEK Athens, Serie B side Monza, and several Championship clubs were among the sides interested in a deal for Wilshere.

Nothing went through before the window closed, but Wilshere is a free agent, so he’s still available to join a new club.
