Jack Wilshere will be buying his kids Aarhus away shirts with the home one looking a bit too Spursy for his liking.

Jack Wilshere made his debut for Aarhus in a 3-2 defeat on Friday that even featured a 10-minute floodlight failure.

Speaking to the media after the game, Wilshere admitted that he had already bought his new club’s home kit for his four kids.

But, when it was put to him that the Aarhus home kit was a bit Spursy looking, the Arsenal legend admitted he would also be getting them the away kit, which is a much more preferable colour – red.

“I’ve got the four kids to kit out,” Wilshere said.

“They are aged 10, eight, three and two — and I did get them the first kit when I arrived.”

The reporter than pointed out the Spurs likeness to which Wilshere replied, “It’s OK, I’ll be getting them the red one as well!”

Wilshere only played 16 minutes on his debut but was serenaded as he played in front of fans for the first time in two-and-a-half years.

“It’s the best feeling in the world.

“I can’t remember the last time I played in front of fans. It has got to have been 2019, before Covid.

“I genuinely did not know what to do [when the fans started serenading]. The lads told me how good our fans are.”

Wilshere, of course, spent a large part of his time without a club training with Arsenal.

“I’ve worked hard for the last four months at Arsenal.

“Now I’m ready to play games.  I got a taste of it tonight and it only makes you want more.

“Once you make a debut, all the lads   stand and sing the club song to you. It’s important for the group — but it’s more fun after a win!”

Jack Wilshere finally found a new club (more on that below), leaving Arsenal where he had been training for the last few months.

Speaking at his pre-Wolves press conference, Mikel Arteta was asked about the midfielder, who will be playing in Denmark for the rest of the season, and if Wilshere could return to Arsenal one day.

“One hundred per cent,” Arteta said.

“I think everyone at the club would be willing to open the doors for him and try to find a role for him that would work for everybody. I think that will happen naturally in the future.

“It’s been great to have him, and I think I’m speaking on behalf of everybody and the club, it’s been absolutely a pleasure to have Jack back.

“To enjoy watching him play next to us, to have him around, the inspiration that he is for all the young people.

“Hopefully we can help him – we have helped him a little bit as well – because he had some doubts with what to do, whether to start coaching or continue playing.

“I think this group of players have given him again that necessity to experience – on a daily basis – how magnificent it is to feel like a football player, and I think he wants to experience that again. We wish him the best of luck.”
