La Nazione report in their print edition on Monday (via Fiorentina.it) that Lucas Torreira could complete his permanent transfer to Fiorentina by the end of the month.

The outlet claim Fiorentina will meet with Arsenal at the end of the month to pay Torreira’s purchase clause of €15m.

That clause was put into Torreira’s loan deal at the beginning of the season, intended as an option to buy at the end of the campaign. But the season is going so well for the Uruguay international that Fiorentina seemingly intend to activate the option early.

Corriere Fiorentino (via Sport Witness) reported in December that it’s reached the point where Fiorentina rely on the midfielder’s involvement to play at their best.

They wrote that Torreira has convinced everyone at the Serie A club that it’s worth signing him on a permanent deal, and talks were reportedly set to start soon. According to La Nazione, those talks will take place this month.

The only concern is that some previous reports suggested Fiorentina might try and lower the €15m fee. In all honesty, they’re not in a very strong position to do that anymore.

Torreira has played well enough that Arsenal should be able to find a club willing to pay the €15m, even if that’s not Fiorentina. He’s worth that price at the moment, so the Serie A club can pay it or watch him go elsewhere in the summer.
