The Telegraph claim Arsenal are known to be keen on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and they’re likely to provide competition to Newcastle United for the centre-forward signing.

Newcastle will reportedly be in the market for a new striker to support Callum Wilson in future windows, with Calvert-Lewin on their list. At this stage, next summer is looking more likely than January for a move, and Arsenal should be in the mix then too.

This isn’t the first time The Telegraph have credited Arsenal with an interest in Calvert-Lewin. They also wrote that the Gunners were keeping tabs on the striker back in June.

The issue at the time was that Arsenal were only likely to make a serious move for a striker if they could move one or two of them on first.

At the start of the summer, Arsenal had Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli, and Folarin Balogun as centre-forward options. At the end of the summer, nothing had changed.

Without anyone leaving, the odds were never going to be very good for Arsenal to act on their interest in Calvert-Lewin. But with Lacazette and Nketiah’s contracts expiring next summer, the situation is certainly set to change.
