Gabriel Martinelli suffered an injury with Arsenal last week, and he’s a doubt for Monday’s match against Crystal Palace.

As he wasn’t called up by Brazil, Gabriel Martinelli has remained with the Arsenal squad over the international break. He was involved in the friendly match against QPR last week, but Mikel Arteta says the winger is now a doubt for the next game.

“Unfortunately, he got injured last week,” Arteta said. “It’s a minor injury. We don’t know if he’s going to be available for Monday.”

“Obviously the injuries the injuries that he has suffered have been big setbacks with him. We sometimes forget his age, what he’s done and where he is.”

Arteta did go on to deny that Martinelli could be set for a loan move in January.

“No I’m very happy with him,” Arteta responded. “We’re not thinking of anything like that.”

The questions and concerns on Martinelli obviously stem from his limited participation with Arsenal this campaign. After starting the two opening games of the Premier League season, the 20-year-old hasn’t played another minute in the competition.

Martinelli did get a chance to start against AFC Wimbledon in the League Cup, winning a penalty. It was a positive performance from him overall, but with Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka currently in the Arsenal front three, there’s not much room for the Brazilian.

It’s true that Martinelli’s injury problems have set him back, and hopefully, he’ll break back into the team once he recaptures his pre-injury form.
