On Monday, it was reported that Reiss Nelson had been omitted from the Feyenoord squad of their Europa League Conference game against Maccabi Haifa in Israel on Tuesday night.

It was claimed he was not up to full match fitness, which is understandable given he only played 19 minutes for Arsenal this season before being sent off on loan.

Speaking to the media before their match, Feyenoord’s head coach, Arne Slot, elaborated on the problem.

“Nelson had participated in almost all training sessions at Arsenal, but he experiences the training sessions here as a bit more spicy”, Slot said

“He ran into an overload injury and so he is not here.

“Whether he will make it to PSV remains to be seen.”

Feyenoord play PSV Eindhoven this weekend.
