Granit Xhaka returned from his three-card suspension picked up against Manchester City and promptly picked up an injury.

To be fair, it was an unfortunate injury.

Thomas Partey bundled Lucas Moura over and, as the Spurs man fell, he landed on Xhaka’s leg, bending his knee and ankle in opposite directions.

Speaking to the media after the game, Arteta was asked about Xhaka’s injury.

“I’m pretty worried because it doesn’t look very positive at the moment,” Arteta said.

Xhaka was able to walk off but that means little. We can hope that it is not as bad as it seemed, especially with the club wanting to sell him in January.

About the win, Arteta said, “It was one of the nicest feelings that I had certainly in this stadium.

“It was a big occasion for us, a big game, to win it the way we did and to feel that connection. It made it really special.

“This is an Arsenal team that they have won a game today and their manager saw a a lot of things that he feels very related to. I’m proud of the way played.”
