Emile Smith Rowe could be in line to feature for Arsenal against Norwich this weekend after the midfielder returned to training following his illness.
Emile Smith Rowe has been sick this week, sent home from international duty with the England u21s with an illness that is not said to be Covid.
It had been hoped he would be well enough to face Norwich on Saturday, especially as he has been Arsenal’s top player this season so far, but by the time of Mikel Arteta’s press conference, there was still a a doubt he would recover in time.
Speaking at his pre-Norwich press conference, Arteta said, “He’s carrying an illness. He’s not been feeling good. Let’s see how he is in the next couple of days.”
On Friday, however, Emile Smith Rowe was back in training:
Arsenal will, however, be without Mohamed Elneny, who picked up a hamstring injury that will keep him out for two-three weeks.
Albert Sambi Lokonga is also a doubt after picking up a muscular problem while on international duty with Belgium.
Roberto Martinez was reluctant to call it an injury but it kept him out of Belgium’s squad for two of their three matches, so it seemed a little more serious than just ‘discomfort’.
Sambi was, however, also spotted back in training on Friday:
Sead Kolasinac is another doubt after being clattered on international duty.
Arsenal will welcome back Gabriel (knee), Thomas Partey (ankle), Eddie Nketiah (ankle), Nicolas Pepe (ill), and Ben white (Covid).
