Willian is in training, uninjured, and doesn’t appear to be close to a move, but he was excluded from Arsenal’s match at the weekend anyway.

There were a few absentees as Arsenal took on Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, but most of them were explained. Rob Holding was reportedly not fit for the match, Joe Willock was on the verge of a move to Newcastle United, but no explanation was given for Willian’s absence.

ESPN correspondent Joao Castelo-Branco reports that Willian did train on Sunday morning, and he’s not injured. Chris Wheatley adds that sources close to the player insists a move isn’t imminent. Instead, it appears he simply wasn’t selected.

Unfortunately, no one asked Mikel Arteta directly in his press conference, but that’s just the nature of Willian’s situation at Arsenal right now. His non-selection is barely even on the minds of fans and reporters at the moment.

At the start of the summer, it appeared fairly inevitable Willian would be gone before the end of it. But he’s still here, and it doesn’t look like that’s about to change. Not imminently, anyway.
