Willian is ‘100%’ to leave Arsenal this summer, even if no other English clubs come in for him, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast on Wednesday, Fabrizio Romano was emphatic about Willian’s chances of staying with Arsenal – in that there aren’t any.

“Willian is leaving the club, I want to confirm that he is 100% leaving the club,” Romano said. “At the moment, there is still nothing going on with other English clubs. But he is leaving the club. So 100%, Willian is going to leave.”

The reference to English clubs was presumably based on the recent report from Sky Sports that Willian is keen to return to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Sky claimed Willian was considering leaving Arsenal this summer, with a number of clubs in Europe and MLS side Inter Miami interested. But the winger’s first choice is to rejoin his former club, Chelsea.

Based on Romano’s update, a move to Chelsea isn’t close to happening. You’d imagine it’s also pretty unlikely, as Thomas Tuchel’s side have moved on from needing Willian back. But either way, it looks like the winger is on the way out.

Willian made 37 appearances for Arsenal, scoring one goal and assisting seven.
