As covered on Monday, reports suggest Lucas Torreira is closing in on a move to Fiorentina, and he’ll travel to Italy today to complete the move. At this stage, the deal is expected to be a one-year loan with an option to buy clause. Fiorentina are likely to cover Torreira’s full salary.

Fabrizio Romano reports Arsenal will receive a €1.5m loan fee up front, and the purchase option is set at around €15m.

Uruguayan reporter Sebas Giovanelli confirms that Tuesday is expected to bring the player’s transfer to Fiorentina, whilst ESPN Deportes report that practically everything is agreed with the Italian club.

ESPN don’t provide any further details of the nature of the deal, but they also agree that the midfielder will travel to Florence on Tuesday to close the transfer.

Arsenal442 report that Torreira’s agent Pablo Bentancur worked hard this summer to find the player a new club, offering him to more than five Italian sides. Roma and Lazio were two other interested clubs, but Fiorentina met Torreira’s conditions.

Initial rumblings that the loan deal might have an obligation to buy appear to have died down now, with the loan only likely to include an option.

But Torreira has shone in Italy before, so if he can recapture that form it should push his new club to activate that option.
