Arsenal have finally found a new home for Lucas Torreira with the Uruguay midfielder set to return to Italy to sign for Fiorentina for the season.

On Sunday, Di Marzio reported that Eintracht Frankfurt presented a formal offer to Arsenal to secure the services of Torreira. For the player’s part, he was still hoping for a return to Italy, where he was so impressive with Sampdoria to earn the Arsenal move in the first place.

Fiorentina were one of the other sides Di Marzio said were interested, along with Lazio.

Torreira knows he’s not in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the coming season, and he has been training individually despite his return to London. It was an inevitability he would leave Arsenal before the end of the month, the club just need to sort out the specifics.

Torreira still has two-years on his Arsenal contract although Arsenal will no doubt be trying to secure as much cash for him at this stage, perhaps with an obligation to buy beeded into the contract.
