After an extended absence due to the strict red-list quarantine requirements between Uruguay and the UK, Lucas Torreira posted on his Instagram story on Thursday to confirm that he’s back in London at last.

Before any fans of the midfielder get too excited, Football.London have reported that Mikel Arteta has informed Torreira he’s not part of the Arsenal manager’s plans for the new season.

The Uruguay international had initially expressed a desire to return to Arsenal and fight for a place, earlier in the summer. But after learning the Gunners had other ideas, he’s been searching for a transfer.

AS Roma and Lazio are both interested in taking the player on loan, but no decisions have been made at this stage.

Arsenal’s primary goal at this stage of the transfer window is to move players on. They’re still hoping to be able to bring in another signing or two before the deadline, but that will only be possible if they offload some first.

Following the arrival of Martin Ødegaard, Arsenal don’t actually have any non-homegrown squad spots available, but there are plenty of players who could leave to make space. Torreira is evidently one of them.
