Lautaro Martinez’s agent has insisted the player is happy at Inter Milan, who want to keep him despite a bid from Tottenham Hotspur.

As we covered over the weekend, a report from The Times suggested Tottenham Hotspur had agreed a fee to sign apparent Arsenal target Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan.

However, since that report, the deal has started to look a lot less likely.

For a start, Martinez’s agent told Cesar Luis Merlo that his client is happy where he is and is planning to stay for the upcoming campaign.

“Lautaro is happy at Inter and in Italy. His decision is to stay,” Alejandro Caamano said. “The relationship with Inter is perfect.

“Lautaro is calm, it is true that there were offers but today he is comfortable and we will sit down to talk about the future.”

Fabrizio Romano confirms that Tottenham Hotspur made a bid, but it was days ago and Inter want to keep the forward.

Neither Romano nor Merlo back up The Times’ claim that the bid was accepted.

The suggestion in previous reports was that Inter needed to make a major sale before the end of the window to aid their financial situation.

But the implication was that they’d only sell either Martinez or Romelu Lukaku, and Lukaku is already seemingly on the way to Chelsea.

That damages Arsenal’s chances of landing the Argentine international, but the good news is that it also makes a move to Spurs significantly less likely.
