Alexandre Lacazette’s agent has denied that they’re in the midst of negotiations with AS Roma, despite the recent rumours linking the two.

In recent days, reports have suggested AS Roma are considering signing Alexandre Lacazette as an alternative to Tammy Abraham. So far, they haven’t managed to reach an agreement with Abraham – though it does seem like they’re getting ever closer.

One other claim was that Roma general manager Tiago Pinto was using his trip to London not only to speak with Abraham, but also to hold talks with the Arsenal striker’s camp.

Yet Lacazette’s agent insists that they aren’t in active discussions with Roma over a move. Jeremy Sutter of Score Agencies told LaRoma24 that there’s nothing going on at this stage.

“No, there are no ongoing negotiations with Roma for him (Lacazette),” Sutter said. “I have not had any contact (with Tiago Pinto).”

Given Lacazette’s situation with a year left on his current Arsenal deal, you’d think his agent would confirm talks if they really were happening. After all, it would improve his client’s negotiating position with the Gunners, if nothing else.

So if Sutter says talks aren’t ongoing, he’s probably telling the truth. The only question now is whether Roma might yet start up those conversations if and when a deal for Abraham falls through.
