Earlier this week, we covered reports that Crystal Palace were showing an interest in taking Reiss Nelson on loan for the coming season.

These claims have since been backed up by Sky Sports News, who add that Arsenal will allow Nelson to leave given he’s unlikely to get many minutes this season.

Palace aren’t the only team in for Nelson. German outlet 90PLUS report that Hertha BSC are interested in the winger, possibly even on a permanent deal. At this stage, none of the details have been finalised.

Arsenal obviously already have a relationship with Hertha from last season’s loan of Matteo Guendouzi, and talks are underway for Nelson.

The issue with any potential loan deal for Nelson is that he only has a contract with Arsenal until 2022, and there’s no option to extend. As things stand, loaning the winger would mean losing him for nothing in a year’s time.

Arsenal have offered Nelson a new deal to 2024, which would allow him to complete a loan move and return afterwards, but he hasn’t accepted yet.
