The S*n claim Reiss Nelson tops Crystal Palace’s list for a new winger, and Patrick Vieira wants a loan deal for the player. With Nelson struggling for minutes under Mikel Arteta, the article claims the move could be in the interests of both player and club.

From a Palace point of view, they’re obviously looking to save money where they can, especially as they want to sign a striker.

The main issue here is that Nelson only has a contract with Arsenal until 2022, and there’s no option to extend. As things stand, loaning the winger would mean losing him for nothing in a year’s time.

We know that Arsenal are trying to rectify that situation by offering Nelson a new deal to 2024, but the 21-year-old hasn’t accepted the contract yet. If he doesn’t do so, it would seemingly take a loan to Palace off the cards.

There’s still most of a month remaining in the transfer window, so that’s plenty of time for Nelson and Arsenal to sort things out. It’s just somewhat up in the air right now.
