Ainsley Maitland-Niles has held clear-the-air talks with Mikel Arteta and, as a result, the 24-year-old will remain at the club.

With an Everton bid on the table, Ainsley Maitland-Niles seemed on his way but Arsenal then changed their mind and told the player he was staying.

Not impressed, he took to social media to express his displeasure:

Then, it was reported that he had been told to train away from the first team, a story that seemed plausible but also had a dodgy source.

Talks were held, reports that Maitland-Niles still wasn’t happy abounded and, now, we have arrived at a place where he is seemingly staying at the club, assured of a role in the first team:

I’ve no idea what Arsenal have promised him, but it must be significant in terms of minutes. We shall see after the international break if Arteta and co are true to their word.
