An Arsenal exit for Willian is a work in progress, but links to Al-Ahli Saudi Club seem to be wide of the mark.

Al-Alahli Network reported on Friday morning that Al-Ahli SC are very close to signing Willian from Arsenal.

They weren’t the only ones hinting at a move, with other big social media accounts such as @Almriseul and Battal Al Goos posting cryptic clues about the deal.

But Fabrizio Romano is denying the claims. He writes on Twitter that there’s nothing advanced or agreed between Willian and the Saudi Arabian club, no contract signed, no talks.

Willian’s exit is still a work in progress, and he’s still thinking about leaving the club in the coming days, but not to Al-Ahli.

It’s been clear since the start of the summer that Willian intended to leave, but that obviously didn’t mean he’d necessarily get the offers he wanted.

You’d hope Arsenal would be fairly amenable to any bids for the 32-year-old after his struggles last season, but if none come in from clubs Willian actually wants to join, there’s nothing they can do.
