Eagle-eyed Arsenal fans have spotted multiple hints that Emile Smith Rowe is set to receive a new shirt number for the coming season.
With pre-season underway, Arsenal have posted plenty of pictures and videos of the players in training, but some fans noticed that any image of Emile Smith Rowe was taken in such a way as to obscure his shirt number.
Photos were taken from the side, from behind, and even one with a camera in the way, all hiding the number on his shirt.
From The first day of pre-season to the pic on the Side with the cam …. Till today, that video was not even shown on that angle.
And deliberately not showing or revealing the kit NO Aye @Arsenal ? 👀 pic.twitter.com/JsUyDKsqsg

More than that, another fan spotted that youth goalkeeper James Hillson is wearing Smith Rowe’s 32 in training.
This doesn’t necessarily mean Hillson is taking the number, as other youth players have been wearing spare numbers from players who aren’t currently in the camp. For example, Harry Clarke wearing Gabriel Martinelli’s 35.
But 32 shouldn’t be spare, Smith Rowe should be wearing it. The fact that it’s free for Hillson to use suggests Smith Rowe has taken, or is about to take a new one.
Then, Smith Rowe was pictured wearing the 10 training kit as it seems like Arsenal and the player tease us…

Maybe Arsenal fans are just reading too much into things, or perhaps we’re set for a new number announcement in the coming days, with Smith Rowe rumoured to be getting the number 10 for soem time now.
It has even seemingly formed part of Arsenal’s strategy to get him to renew amid interest from Aston Villa.
