As the Arsenal u18s continue their Devon training camp, they took on Plymouth Argyle’s u18s on Saturday. Coming just a couple of days after their confident win over Tavistock AFC, there were obviously a few changes so others could get chances.

One of those was in goal, with Alex Kovacevic replacing Remy Mitchell. At first, Kovacevic seemed a little off the pace, being caught in possession for an early Argyle chance. Fortunately, the Arsenal defence managed to block the shot and clear.

Kaleel Green had a couple of chances at the other end, forcing two saves after his excellent goal last week against Chelmsford City academy. Kovacevic was then called into action again and made a strong low save to ensure the scores remained level at half-time.

Soon after the break, Henry Timi Davies gave Arsenal the lead with a deflected effort into the corner. He was another to impress against Chelmsford, and clearly he’s keeping that early pre-season form up.

Kovacevic had to make a few more excellent saves, more than making up for his slow start. But the game didn’t quite end as planned, as Arsenal conceded and were reduced to 10 men through a Henry Jeffcott second yellow in the last 10 minutes.

Despite the late equaliser and sending off, Arsenal’s u18s will be pleased to have come through another pre-season game without defeat as their preparations continue.
