The Daily Mail report that Arsenal are planning to step up their pursuit of James Maddison, exploring whether it will be possible to do a deal with Leicester City.

The main issue is that it’s believed that even £50m wouldn’t be enough to make Leicester consider a sale, which is why Arsenal are looking at including players in a part swap deal. Arsenal believe Leicester are prepared to negotiate, at least.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson are two players proposed for a deal. Maitland-Niles has been the subject of interest from Leicester in the past, whilst Brendan Rodgers is looking to add a wide forward to his squad, so both are decent possibilities.

But with Maddison’s long contract, Leicester are in a strong position.

TheAFCBell recently reported that Maddison’s camp are expecting a move from Arsenal to sign him in the coming weeks.

Arsenal have already made an offer to Maddison through their back channels, proposing a four-year contract plus one additional year with a salary that almost doubles what he earns at Leicester. They’re also offering him the number 10 shirt.
