TheAFCBell report that James Maddison’s camp are expecting a move from Arsenal to sign the Leicester City playmaker in the coming weeks.

Arsenal have already made an offer to Maddison through their back channels, proposing a four-year contract plus one additional year with a salary that almost doubles what he earns at Leicester. They’re also offering him the number 10 shirt.

Arsenal have reportedly informed Maddison he’s their primary target this window, and their approach was well-received by his camp and the player himself.

The Gunners know this isn’t an easy deal, but they don’t believe it’s impossible. They think it’s worth the attempt even if they have no guarantees of success.

Football.London previously claimed Arsenal are considering a move, and the Mail suggested he’s one of the club’s key transfer targets, but both outlets agreed he could cost £60m or more.

Arsenal need a big signing in midfield and Maddison is Premier League-tested coming off the back of a season where he put up another 20 goals/assists in all competitions. He’d be an excellent addition to the team, but a deal is still a long way off.
