Arsenal’s interest in Ben White hasn’t faded, and they’re planning to step up their attempts to sign him now that Euro 2020 is over.

The Evening Standard report that Arsenal remain in talks with Brighton and Hove Albion for Ben White, and they’re ready to press ahead with a deal that could be worth around £50m now.

Gareth Southgate reportedly encouraged players to put their transfer business on hold while England concluded their participation at the tournament, but now the player is free to complete his exit – as soon as Arsenal find an agreement.

Personal terms aren’t expected to cause any problems, with White keen to join.

David Ornstein previously reported in June that Arsenal were moving closer to an agreement with Brighton. They wanted £50m, Arsenal were offering £45m plus £5m in add-ons, but a deal was reportedly not far off.

Evidently the Euros delayed that, but the signs look positive for an eventual transfer.

Ornstein was one of many to report initially that Arsenal would be returning for White after their initial £40m bid was knocked back.

At the time, Brighton correspondents suggested it would take more than £50m to convince them to sell, but it seems the two parties are edging towards a compromise.
