Thomas Partey has returned to training with Ghana, after the Ghana FA confirmed his recent absence was with permission and for personal reasons.
Earlier this week, we covered reports that Thomas Partey would not play a part in Ghana’s friendly match against Morocco on Tuesday.
At the time, there was some conflicting information over exactly what happened, with some Ghanaian outlets claiming he was being sacked and punished, whilst reports in England suggested he had permission to leave.
Ghana have since confirmed that Partey met with coach Charles Akonnor over some personal issues and was excused from the trip to Morocco after a meeting lasting for about an hour. The player still joined his teammates in training as a show of solidarity.
Partey has now returned to training ahead of Ghana’s match against the Ivory Coast on Saturday at 18:00 BST.
Football.London suggest there may have been some wires crossed, as Tariq Fosu, not Partey, really was sacked from the squad to face Morocco for arriving late.
In Partey’s case, this should put the speculation to bed, and we hope he can have a good game against the Ivory Coast before beginning his summer break.
