On Saturday, we covered reports from Spain that Atletico Madrid hold an interest in Hector Bellerin. They’ve made various approaches to the player, but his arrival in Madrid would depend on the club selling Kieran Trippier.

According to Jonathan Shrager, that’s now a possibility. Shrager reports that there’s significant interest from Manchester United in Trippier, with further talks anticipated in the next week.

This could be big news for Bellerin’s future. United are likely to offer a decent fee for Trippier, which would give Atletico both the funds and the motivation to pursue Bellerin.

In turn, that would offer Bellerin the chance to play for a Champions League club and Arsenal the opportunity to cash in and invest in a replacement right-back.

It’s very possible that United securing a deal for Trippier could spark a series of transfers that work well for all parties.
