Atletico Madrid could move for Hector Bellerin if Kieran Trippier leaves the club this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Marca report that whilst Kieran Trippier is happy with Atletico Madrid, he’s less happy being away from his family in England. There’s a suggestion he might consider a move back to his home country this summer, which could impact Hector Bellerin’s future.
Atletico sporting director Andrea Berta reportedly likes Bellerin, and has made various approaches to the player. This summer isn’t the first time he’s set his sights on the right back.
One possibility suggested by the Spanish outlet is a swap deal between the two clubs, with Trippier joining Arsenal and Bellerin moving to Atletico.
But it would also be possible for Bellerin to join Atletico if Trippier was sold to Manchester United, a club we know is interested in him.
The rumour is still clearly in its infancy, but it already seems more realistic than the links between Bellerin and Real Betis. Betis were never going to be able to afford the player’s transfer fee or his wages, and reports suggest they’re out of the race now.
Given Trippier’s exit from Atletico is far from certain, Bellerin’s camp will probably continue searching for alternative options for a departure this summer.
