It has been reported that David Luiz has reached an agreement with Flamengo which would see the Brazilian return to his home country but the claim from Spain seems to be total nonsense.

According to Fichajes, David Luiz has reached an agreement to sign for Flamengo although the Spanish site is light on details regarding the move. That’s probably because it’s not happening if you read the much more reliable Lancet, who state that, due to Luiz’s wages, a move is not feasible.

According to Flamengo’s board of directors, there is no ongoing negotiation or conversation with David Luiz,” Lancet write. “The biggest obstacle is the athlete’s high salary. Even without the need to spend on the purchase of economic rights, the club would not be able to offer an amount close to what the defender receives in Europe.”

David Luiz and Arsenal part ways this summer when the defender’s contract with the club expires, neither party seemingly keen on continuing the relationship, much to the relief of most Arsenal fans.

Luiz made 73 appearances for Arsenal, fewer that for any of his other clubs which included Chelsea (248), Benfica (130) and PSG (89) but managed to pick up three red cards while in north London despite only picking up one in his career before hand.
