Switzerland play France on Monday evening at the Arena Nationala in Bucharest but it was Granit Xhaka’s move to Rome that was on the question list.

Handily for the journalists, the presser was taking place just half an hour outside Rome in the Hotel Sheraton Parco de ‘Medici, which presented a nice opening.

“Do you like it here in Rome,” a reporter asked Xhaka?

“It’s very nice, yes,” he replied, hardly creating any waves.

The journalist continued. “Did you tell Arsenal that you wanted to go to AS Roma?” he asked.

“Arsenal know what I want to do,” came the reply.

Make of that reply what you will, but we all know what he would have said if he wasn’t going anywhere – that he wasn’t going anywhere.

As things stand, the move is expected to be finalised after Switzerland’s elimination from the Euros, whenever that might be.

Should the Swiss beat the French, they will face the winners of Croatia vs Spain, which takes place just before their game.
