As well as their nominees for Player of the Month (including two Arsenal players), the Premier League also announced the Manager of the Month nominations on Tuesday morning. You can check out the nominees and vote here.

Among them was Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who led his team to five straight league victories in May. He was nominated alongside Marcelo Bielsa, Jurgen Klopp, and David Moyes.

The Gunners began with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United, followed by a 3-1 victory against West Brom, and a 1-0 derby win over Chelsea.

They welcomed fans back to Selhurst Park by taking three points off Crystal Palace in another 3-1, before concluding the season in front of supporters at the Emirates Stadium with a 2-0 against Brighton.

The only manager to have a better record was Klopp, who also won five out of five matches but with a goal difference of 10, versus Arsenal’s nine.

The public may well also factor in that Klopp’s wins earned his team Champions League football, whilst Arteta’s did not. But in fairness, that’s more to do with what came before May than the actual month itself.

Regardless of the final result, it’s nice for Arteta to get a nomination to finish the season. Now he needs to ensure the end-of-year form carries on into the new campaign.

Arteta was also nominated for the award in January.
