Corentin Tolisso, who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and has dreamed of playing for them, is back in the transfer mix.

Corentin Tolisso is not a new name for fans of Arsenal transfer nonsense. He has been linked with Arsenal for at least the last five years.

Arsenal and Southampton were watching him back in 2016 when he was 21 and playing for Lyon.

Tolisso then said he was dreaming of a move to Arsenal (and a few others). “Many clubs make me dream like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and England with teams like Arsenal,” he said.

“I like the Premier League and I think I am well suited to it. It is the league that offers the most competition, it is the most open, the most hard-fought and the most spectacular.”

This carried on for a few years before he eventually signed for Bayern Munich in 2017 for £37.5m.

Currently out with a torn tendon that has sidelined him since February, minutes were sparse for the midfielder this season before that. He played the full 90 in the Bundesliga just once and got just seven starts from his 14 appearances. He also missed two games for a red card suspension.

Tolisso is out of contract next summer and, seemingly, out of favour in Munich.

This has prompted a number of clubs, such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus to sit up and pay attention according to Sport in France who get their information from Kicker in Germany.

They write that Bayern Munich are “already in the process of reviewing the offers of several European teams. In the lot we find very big names, such as Juventus Turin, Manchester United, Arsenal, Inter Milan, Napoli and Atlético Madrid. Suffice to say that if he wishes to leave the Bundesliga, the 26-year-old Frenchman will be spoiled for choice. His club are expected to demand around €20million to let him go this summer.”

In 2018, it was reported that Bayern Munich wanted €60m for Tolisso and Arsenal were considering paying it.
